We’re proud to continue our longstanding commitment to ensuring that all of our venues are assessed for accessibility of entrances, washrooms, parking and seating allotment for people who use wheelchairs, scooters or other mobility aides. • Access Ticketing Policy Discounted tickets are available for students, seniors and underemployed patrons (no ID required). Memberships are only discounted for youth (17 & under).
• Washrooms We prioritize venues with washrooms that are physically accessible and permit all-gender access during Festival dates. We’ve been placing gender-destabilizing signs on washroom doors at all venues for most of our Festival’s history.
• Courtesy Seating Look for Accessibility Volunteers at each venue who can assist you with courtesy chairs while you wait in line or to gain priority access to the venue.
• Community Tickets We issue over 500 complimentary tickets and memberships to community groups for individuals who face financial and other barriers to attending the Festival. Contact us if you’d like to be included in an upcoming festival.
• Free Companion Seating Available for companions of people with disabilities (subject to availability, please inquire at the venue Box Office).
• American Sign Language ASL interpretation is available at select screenings as indicated on the schedule. Subtitled films also noted.
• Childcare Subsidies Parents or guardians can receive $10 per screening at the venue to assist with childcare costs.
• Be Scent Sensitive Please join us in making the Festival more accessible to people with scent sensitivities and allergies by avoiding the use of scented products at all Festival screenings and events.
• Transit Information Get to Festival venues by bus and skytrain. Translink offers HandyDART services for those that are unable to use conventional public transit without assistance. For details please visit their website or call 604.953.3680.
